A football boss has been banned from the game for life over a £40k black hole in his club’s accounts that was discovered by forensic accountants.

The man in question who was secretary of the Lanarkshire Amateur FA, mismanaged accounts and paid 180 cheques into his personal bank account.

The probe was sparked after a local financial adviser gave £3,000 to the league to sponsor a fair play award.  He grew suspicious when the money failed to appear on the annual accounts.

The Scottish Amateur Football Association chief commenced an inquiry with the help of forensic accountants.  It dragged on for three years as accounts had been destroyed.
