Between 2011 and 2014, the five health trusts that make up the NHS in Northern Ireland faced 570 medical negligence claims, which saw payouts total £109 million.

The largest trust in Belfast accounted for a third of the payouts, figures obtained by the BBC have revealed. Meanwhile, in Wales, which has over a million more people than Northern Ireland, medical negligence NHS payouts totalled £184 million over the same period.

It is an unfortunate truth that despite the fantastic work the NHS does, mistakes will still be made. And unlike other service providers, when it comes to healthcare these mistakes become extremely damaging, even deadly.

Medical negligence cases are not simply about pointing the finger of blame at a team or individual, but rather ensuring the patient gets the proper financial compensation they deserve if there is an error by a healthcare practitioner.

Frenkels Forensics has assisted on many medical negligence cases to establish just how much should be paid to a victim. The company’s forensic accountants work to carefully examine the full range of repercussions resulting from an act of negligence and demonstrate how this translates into things like loss of earnings, loss of pensions, diminished quality of life, additional costs and any other ways the victim might have had their bank balance or future earning potential damaged.

By presenting this information in a clear and detailed report fit for court, Frenkels Forensics can help both sides reach a fair and agreeable settlement based on precise and thorough calculations.
