We are often instructed to act as an expert forensic accountant to assist when a couple is going through a divorce. This can be on behalf of one spouse or both spouses to value a business or a private company that one or both of them holds shares in. We are experienced in valuing majority interests and both influential and uninfluential minority interests. We can also address issues relating to the tax consequences of the sale of a party’s holdings or transfers between spouses, the liquidity of a business and the ability to extract capital sums, and analytical exercises such as establishing the historical amounts extracted from the business by the parties by way of remuneration, benefits, dividends etc.

We can provide forensic accounting advice to parties going through divorce (including providing “shadow advice” on the expert evidence adduced in a case) and our experts can provide formal expert witness evidence (either as a SJE or on the instructions of one party).

We pride ourselves on providing clear and robust reports and our experts have given evidence in Court on several occasions in matrimonial matters.
